STARRY'S ANGELS
Hi and welcome to Starry's Angels! I'm Albert Helmling IV, the owner of this wonderful project. Starry's Angels was created just last year with the goal of sharing awareness about Autism, how the diagnosis is relayed from doctor to patient, the different types of Autism, and to share success and hardship stories. Starry's Angels also participate in the annual Walk for Autism in San Luis Obispo, CA, located north of home base in Santa Maria, CA. Come one, come all, and be a part of Starry's Angels. ~Albert
WELCOME TO STARRY'S ANGELS!
A formal welcome, indeed! Welcome to Starry’s Angels! This is a place for people to share their life experiences, success stories, and to be at home without judgment being passed. Starry’s Angels was formed back in April 2017 with my vision of reaching out to people who want to speak their mind freely and to find solace in an ever-changing world. My overall goal is to be more helping of those who are struggling with their own diagnosis of autism. Just be yourself. Never change for anybody.
WALK FOR AUTISM...
Even though this was taken back in 2015, I, Albert, was a part of team NaT 4 Autism in honor of Taryn’s mom, Natalie. These are a few pictures that our good friend Chris had taken during and after the walk. Included in this amazing journey is my good friend Brittany who has been supportive of both Taryn and I. Taryn’s story has inspired me to create Starry’s Angels, in which will be in a partnership with NaT 4 Autism in the near future.
SUCCESS STORIES
Having Autism…
I remember when I was 14 years old, being with my grandmother and my doctor telling me that I have been diagnosed with high functioning autism (Asperger’s Syndrome). I didn’t know what to really think or say. Maybe I was happy to know that I had been finally diagnosed with autism because throughout my childhood, I wasn’t really acting like ‘normal’ people would. I can say that I had been given a positive outlook on life in general, redefining the word ‘normal’ in any sense possible. Now that I am 28 years old, I can disguise my autism, basically hide it from plain sight. Whenever I tell people that I have it, they are like, “you look normal to me, Albert,” or “you don’t seem to have autism.” I have to laugh a little bit, then tell them the story, my diagnosis, and how well I can hide it from people… Make people think that I don’t have it. It’s really helped me deal with some stressful life events and I can hope that I can share my story with more people.
